Hydraulic Throttle Check Valves
Hydraulic throttle check valves set the speed of cylinders and hydraulic motors in one direction only. Flow from A to B passes an adjustable throttle, while the return flow from B to A bypasses the throttle through an integrated check valve. A cylinder can therefore extend at a controlled speed and retract at full speed, or the other way round.
The valves mount directly in the pipe line with threaded ports, and the speed is set with an adjustment knob. The throttle direction is marked on the body: install the valve so that the flow to be controlled enters at port A. Mounted the wrong way round, it throttles the return stroke instead of the working stroke.
Size the valve on flow as well as on thread size, and check that its pressure rating covers the system pressure. When the flow must be restricted equally in both directions, use a hydraulic throttle valve without check valve. For mounting behind a control panel, with only the knob on the front, use a matching panel mounting set.
