Calorimetric flow meters for water-based liquids

Calorimetric flow meters for water-based liquids measure the flow velocity and the temperature with a heated probe. They have no moving parts, so no part wears or jams, and a 4-digit display shows the value at the measuring point. The probe measures 0.05 to 3 m/s. The flow in l/min depends on the pipe: enter the inner pipe diameter to show l/min. The displayed flow is an indication, not a precise measurement; for a precise value in l/min, choose a paddle wheel or magnetic flow meter.

A teach function stores the zero point and the maximum flow at the measuring point. Output 1 switches at a flow limit, output 2 at a flow or temperature limit, each as PNP or NPN. Typical uses are coolant circuits, filter units and pump dry-running protection.

The probe screws into a G 1/4" or G 1/2" socket. The supply voltage is 15 to 35 V DC, and the meters are rated to 40 bar (≈580 psi) and +85 °C (≈185 °F). They are set up for water-based liquids; for oil, choose a metal variable area flow meter. The same devices are also listed under calorimetric flow switches for water-based liquids; choose that page when switching is the main task.
