Materialen klephuis
De meest voorkomende materialen voor de klepbehuizing zijn messing, roestvrij staal en nylon. Messing is het populairste materiaal voor magneetventielen. Het is zeer robuust en bestand tegen veel chemicaliën, maar bijvoorbeeld minder geschikt voor zeewater of gedestilleerd water. Roestvrij staal wordt aanbevolen voor corrosieve media, zoals zeewater. Bovendien is hij slijtvast, waardoor hij zeer geschikt is voor intensief gebruik. Nylon is de goedkoopste variant, heeft goede mechanische eigenschappen en is geschikt voor veel media.

Afdichtingsmaterialen
EPDM (ethyleenpropyleen-dieenmonomeer), FKM (fluorrubber, Viton), PTFE (teflon) en NBR (nitrilbutadieenrubber of nitrilrubber) zijn de meest gebruikte afdichtingsmaterialen. EPDM wordt aanbevolen voor (heet) water, FKM wordt gewoonlijk aanbevolen voor (pers)lucht, oliën en brandstoffen. NBR is een synthetisch polymeer en geschikt voor neutrale vloeistoffen zoals water of hydraulische olie bij temperaturen tot 75 °C. Over het algemeen hebben EPDM en FKM betere eigenschappen en wordt in de meeste gevallen aanbevolen om een van deze polymeren te kiezen in plaats van NBR. Bovendien is de prijs van NBR, EPDM en FKM tegenwoordig bijna gelijk. PTFE (Teflon) is het meest inerte materiaal van de vier afdichtingsmaterialen. Het is bestand tegen bijna alle chemicaliën. Het is relatief hard, waardoor het geschikt is voor hogere werkdrukken en temperaturen. Houd er rekening mee dat verschillende factoren de prestaties kunnen beïnvloeden, zoals de omgevingstemperatuur, de concentratie en de werkdruk.
Chemische weerstandstabel voor vloeistoffen en gassen
De onderstaande tabel toont de meest gebruikte media en hun compatibiliteit met de klepmaterialen. Houd er rekening mee dat de compatibiliteit kan worden beïnvloed door de temperatuur en de concentratie van het medium. De tabel is met grote zorg ontwikkeld, maar Tameson is niet verantwoordelijk voor eventuele fouten in de tabel. Aan deze tabel kunnen geen rechten worden ontleend. Controleer altijd zorgvuldig of de materialen van de klep compatibel zijn met het gebruikte medium.
Zoek naar een vloeistof of gas:
- + = geschikt (weinig of geen effecten)
- 0 = beperkt geschikt (afhankelijk van omstandigheden)
- - = Ongeschikt
- BP = kookpunt
Sommige media worden gegeven bij bepaalde concentraties, temperaturen of andere omstandigheden.
